Centre for Disability Law and Advocacy
The National Law University Odisha Centre for Disability Law and Advocacy was established with the goal of encouraging and supporting initiatives of research and teaching in the field of law in order to work towards the implementation and execution of disability rights and social justice. The Centre is consisting of a vibrant community of teachers and students who are dedicated towards working in the field of Disability Law and Disability Rights. The Centre is committed to conducting research for the enhancement of the stakeholders and aims at creating awareness for the rights of the Persons with disability.

Centre for Criminal Justice and Human Rights(CCJHR)
The Centre for Criminal Justice and Human Rights has been established with the purpose of providing a platform for discussion and deliberation on the niche area of Criminal Justice and Human Rights. The Centre endeavours through its multifaceted activities to foster a better understanding of the relationship between Criminal Justice and Human rights. The vision behind the establishment of the Centre is to contribute to generating interest and discussion on the contentious issues regarding this field of law and deliberating future courses of action to prevent such events.

Centre for Public Policy, Law and Good Governance (CPPLGG)
CPPLGG is a research-oriented centre with a strong commitment to academic excellence and societal impact. Its goal is to provide a platform for students and researcher to engage in high-quality research, gain valuable skills, and collaborate with experts in the field. It is engaged in collaborative governmental research initiatives, contributing to policy development and generating meaningful solutions for societal challenges.
The Centre was instrumental in the launching of the KHOJ (Know Your High Court Judges) dataset which includes personal, educational and professional information across 43 variables about all High Court judges appointed between 6 October 1993 (since the inception of the collegium) and 31 May 2021. This dataset was prepared by the Centre for Public Policy, Law and Good Governance (NLU Odisha), Agami and Civic DataLab. dataset is now available on Justice Hub, an open-source platform for data related to the Indian justice system and accessible in a machine-readable format.
The dataset was a pioneering effort in India which created substantial avenues of further research on Indian High Courts. One can access some insights which emerged from the data as published by various media houses like The Print, Scroll, Leaflet, IndiaSpend and India Today .One can also access the article in Economic and Political Weekly which relies on the KHOJ Dataset to critique the pattern of appointments in the High Courts.

LexTech- Centre for Law, Entrepreneurship and Innovation
LexTech – Centre for Law, Entrepreneurship and Innovation is a Centre of National Law University Odisha (NLUO). It aims to cultivate a rare breed of entrepreneurs by incubating and mentoring innovative startups thereby creating a transformational learning environment for students.
The Centre aids law students in becoming innovative and sparking their interest in tech-entrepreneurship and law. The Centre in continuance of its goals has organized several talk sessions with serial entrepreneurs, start-up coaches and corporate executives. LexTech has also organized the Google Start-Up Weekend in the past to promote student-led startups.
We are always on the lookout for opportunities to collaborate with like-minded individuals/organizations that can help further our goals. The Centre also strives to inculcate awareness of FinTech, Online Gaming, AI, TMT and Data Protection laws.

Centre for Child Rights (CCR)
Centre for Child Rights (CCR) is the specialized research centre of the National Law University Odisha, Cuttack (NLUO). The Centre was founded on April 12, 2015 with ceremonial inauguration by Hon’ble Justice Dipak Misra, former Chief Justice of India and Visitor, NLUO in the august presence of the Hon’ble Chief Justice and Judges of Orissa High Court, and Secretary, Department of Women and Child Development, Government of Odisha. The Centre aims at building a rights temper amongst the children and the society, strengthening law and justice for children and child wellbeing by supporting and initiating research, policy advocacy and community action on children’s issues. The Centre aims to provide integrated support and consultancy to different layers of institutional governance for protection and insurance of child rights, child protection, understand and reform enabling and disabling factors to furthering child rights and the inter-sectionalities.
Headlined by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ved Kumari, one of the foremost chroniclers of Juvenile Justice and everything Child Rights in the world, NLUO got its first ever Chair Professorship on Child Rights with a five-member staff team sanctioned by the Hon’ble CM of Odisha in 2023. This is led by the Chief Minister Chair Professor. This is the only fully functional chair professorship on child rights in the universe of National Law Universities across India.

Centre for Banking and Insurance Laws(CBIL)
“The Centre for Banking and Insurance Laws (CBIL) at National Law University Odisha (NLUO) is dedicated to fostering higher learning, research, and allied activities in the fields of Banking, Insurance, Insolvency, and Fintech Laws. The Centre’s faculty members have actively engaged in various projects with entities such as the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the Institute of Insolvency Professionals of India. NLUO’s institutional support for collaborations, coupled with administrative flexibilities, has cultivated a culture of academic excellence, underpinned by unparalleled research prowess and acumen.
CBIL has significantly benefited from its alliance with the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI), culminating in the successful conclusion of a three-month-long certificate course with over 200 participants. The course featured distinguished faculties, members of the Bar, and heads of institutions, enriching sessions through their interactions with students.Furthermore, the Centre successfully conducted an essay competition on Insolvency Law with support from the IBBI.”

Centre for Public Health Law
Centre for Public Health Law was established in January 2021 by the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, National Law University Odisha, Cuttack to promote research in the field of public health laws.
Apart from research, the Centre provides guidance and consultancy to government and non-government organizations on health policy. We critically scrutinize the compatibility of various public health policies and programs with the fundamental rights regime.

Centre for Poverty and Access to Justice
The Centre for Access to Justice was established in the year 2020 with the aim of minimising and mitigating the obstacles faced by the socially and economically disadvantaged people in accessing justice. The objective of the Centre is to promote community and traditional justice systems that are relatively easily accessible to vulnerable groups, and to make them more compliant with Human Rights. The Centre aims at studying the barriers to access to justice with emphasis on the groups disadvantaged due to inequality in their economic status, discrimination and lack of legal awareness; and overcoming the barriers through State, Civil Society and policy Intervention
