Prof. Paromita Chattoraj graduated with LL. B (Hons) from the Department of law, University of Calcutta and completed her LL.M, having specialization in Criminal Law, with a Gold Medal in 2004. She completed her PhD. in the area of Rape Laws in 2013. Before joining NLUO, she worked at KIIT Law School for 13 years, where she also served as Associate Dean (Academics) for 6 years. Before coming to academics, she was a practicing lawyer at Calcutta High Court in the criminal side and also worked as a Trade Mark Attorney in a reputed IP Company in Singapore briefly. She had been the recipient of ICSSR grant in 2013-14 for data Collection in California, USA for comparative research on Rape Investigation and Prosecution in India and USA. She had been invited to give the Key note address at the prestigious Annual Journalism Law School Fellowship at Loyola Law School, Los Angeles, California in June 2016, where she spoke to American journalists about the Delhi Gang Rape case and the media’s role as the game changer. She has received research grants from both national and international funding agencies for her research.
