The 23rd D. M. Harish Memorial Government Law College International Moot Court Competition (DMH) 2022, was hosted by?strong>Government Law College, Mumbai, India, in association with the?strong>D. M. Harish Foundation?n the?strong>12th-13th of February, 2022. DM Harish is India’s first international Moot Court Competition which started in the year 2000 as a National Moot Court Competition and has been open to international entrants since the past fifteen years. The Moot Proposition of this year’s edition was based on ‘Armed Conflict on International Investment and Sovereignty Over Cyberspaces.’ The Final Round of Arguments was presided over by?strong>Hon’ble Shri Justice Riyaz Chagla?nd?strong>Hon’ble Shri Justice G.S. Patel.

Bergsten Award for Best Team Orals at the 28th Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot, Vienna, 2021.

The team has juggernauted through?ound of 64, Round of 32 and Round of 16 to achieve?his feat and record the best performance of National Law University Odisha at Vis Vienna thus far.

The ?eam from NLUO comprising Arkaneil Bhaumik, Shivalika Rudrabatla, Sri Aditya Kumar <and Udipto Koushik Sarmah <has been adjudged Semi-finalists <(top 4 teams out of 574 participating teams in World Rounds) <and has received multitude of awards <at the 2021 Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition <recording NLUO’s best performance at Jessup thus far.

 

The team was seeded?b>25th< in the?b>best combined memorials in world rounds category< and has been?elicitated with Hardy C. Dillard Award<. It was also adjudged?b>8th Best Respondent Team?and 9th?est Applicant Team in the World Rounds.?

Additionally, Mr. Arkaneil Bhaumik< was ranked 48th< in the top 100 individual?ralists (preliminary rounds) category.

Kaushik Das from the Batch of 2018 – 23  represented NLUO at the National Law School Debate 2021 organised by the Literary and Debating Society of NLSIU, on the 1st and 2nd of May 2021and is declared Best Adjudicator Additionally, he was a part of the Panel adjudicating the Open Finals of the tournament. Similarly, Shreyash Choudhary from the Batch 2017-22 broke in as an adjudicator and was ranked the 4th Best Adjudicator at the tournament. 

 

Kaushik and Shreyrash’s performance this year at the NLS Debate sets our University’s record historically at the prestigious tournament and in the Indian debating circuit.
