ABOUT THE JOURNAL
The Journal on the Rights of the Child of National Law University Odisha, is the flagship journal of Centre for Child Rights (CCR) – National Law University Odisha (NLUO) initiated in the year 2016. Since inception up to 2020, the journal was published in print form and this year the centre is relaunching it in April 2025 after a post pandemic hiatus. This journal is now an open access online journal. It is double-blind peer reviewed, biannual publication published under the aegis of the Registrar, National Law University Odisha. The journal aims to platform and mainstream pro-child rights’ discourse with the open access mode.

AIMS AND SCOPE
The journal on the rights of the child offers a platform for inter-disciplinary research and practice based scholarship to understand child rights. We seek to advance theoretical and empirical knowledge to inform policy and practice aimed at promoting children’s well-being and development. It is a key resource for practitioners, policy-makers and scholars seeking a nuanced understanding of issues concerning children and young people in contemporary societies.

PEER REVIEW PROCESS
The journal follows a double-blind peer review policy, ensuring anonymity for both authors and reviewers. Manuscripts are evaluated solely on scholarly merit, originality, and relevance. Reviewers provide constructive feedback, and editorial decisions are based on their assessments, ensuring a fair, unbiased, and rigorous review process to uphold academic integrity.
- Submissions for the Journal is reviewed on a rolling basis.
- Acceptance / rejection of submissions for the publication is conveyed within 4 weeks of the submission
- The Editorial Team takes maximum four weeks for the review of submissions. Once accepted the author cannot publish the accepted piece or any part of it in any other platform (academic, journalistic or blogspace like Medium / Substacketc)
- The author needs be prepared to make required changes as suggested by the editors
- Final editorial changes in the submitted content are subject to the discretion of the editorial board
PLAGIARISM POLICY
The journal adheres to strict plagiarism policy mandated by the University Grants Commission of India. The journal ensures that all the published works are checked for plagiarism and AI through ‘turnitin’ software. Only manuscripts which show minor similarity (i.e., up to 10%) are accepted for publication.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES & INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS
GENERAL
- The JRCNLUO Journal accepts submissions on a rolling basis.
- All submissions shall be made to ccr@nluo.ac.in with the subject “Submission for CCR – NLUO Journal”
- There are no fees for submission or publication.
INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS
- All submissions must include Author’s bio (50-75 words), social media handles, and an Abstract of the submission (150-300 words).
- All submissions must be original. By submitting a paper / article / commentary / review / fact-sheet / photo-essay, the author undertakes that it has not been submitted, accepted, or published elsewhere.
- Submissions must be made in.doc/.docx formats only
- Along with the submission please provide the Turnitin report
- Please provide citation, reference for any data-point used
- Papers must be 4000-6000 words (original writing, mandatory citation, bibliography in APA style, self-submission of Turnitin report will be appreciated).
- Co-authorship is allowed (order of the authors need to clearly mentioned) and the author for correspondence and contact coordinates need to be clearly mentioned. Self-referencing/ referencing to one’s prior published work allowed but needs to be clearly mentioned in the Bibliography
- Case Commentaries (1500-2000 words) (self-submission of Turnitin report will be appreciated)
- Notes and comments i.e. articles (1500 – 2000 words) (self-submission of Turnitin report will be appreciated)
- Book Review: 1200 – 1500 words (self-submission of Turnitin report will be appreciated)
- Pop Culture Review: 1200-1500 words (self-submission of Turnitin report will be appreciated)
- The content should be written in Times New Roman Font with a size of 12. Line spacing should be 1.
- All the submission will be mandatorily subjected to anti-plagiarism check. Plagiarism and extensive use of AI for writing will result in summary rejection of the submission
