We are thrilled to announce that our guest lectures have resumed, and for the 32nd IDG session, we are honoured to have?strong>Mr. Bharat Chugh, a Supreme Court Counsel, former Partner, and former Judge, as our distinguished guest.
Brief profile of Mr. Bharat Chugh<
Mr. Bharat Chugh embarked on his legal journey after graduating in 2011, and swiftly rose to prominence by securing AIR 1 in the Delhi Judicial Service Exam at just the age of?23. He served as a Civil Judge/Metropolitan Magistrate for four years before transitioning back to legal practice in 2016.
He was a partner at L&L Partners, Delhi and is currently practicing as an Independent Counsel, heading the Chambers of Bharat Chugh.
Beyond the Courtroom, he also plays an active role in policy discussions, and was appointed as amicus curiae by Delhi High Court in significant criminal cases. He is also a member of the Young SIAC steering committee, demonstrating his involvement in international arbitration.
A prolific reader and writer, Bharat is also committed to legal education, and has been part of various guest lectures and mentor programmes, including mentoring of professional judges, IPS officers, and corporate counsels. He is deeply engaged in pro bono initiatives, exemplified by his advisory position at Satya: Pro Bono Law.
Theme and format of the session<
The theme of the session is “Classes to Courtrooms: Shaping Future Jurists” . The total duration of the session will be of?strong>1 hour and 30 minutes. The guest will speak for one hour. Pursuant to the lecture, we will open the floor for questions from the audience.

Are you guys interested to know?bout the career?rospects and emerging trends in Technology Law? Do you wish to know more about how to pursue an LL.M.?nd get into a prestigious law school abroad??/p>
To answer such questions and more, ARS is?rganizing? talk session with our alumnus,?strong>Mr. Ashirbad Nayak, as part of our Alumni Talk Series. The session is structured into two segments:?nitially, Mr. Nayak will share his insights on the theme “Emerging Trends in Technology Law and Policy.” This will be followed by a discussion on “The Cambridge Experience: Prospects of Pursuing an LL.M. abroad.” At the end, the floor would be opened for questions from students.?/p>
PROFILE OF THE GUEST:
Mr. Ashirbad Nayak is an Associate at Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas’ Technology and Public Policy team, where he advises and assists leading domestic and international clients on all forms of technology law and policy-related mandates. He graduated from NLUO as one of the top-rank holders of his batch (2015-2020) with two gold medals for all-round performance and academic excellence.?e previously worked with J. Sagar Associates in their General Corporate practice and at Jindal Global University as a Lecturer, where he taught industry-specific courses in Mergers and Acquisitions and Securities Regulations.
Mr. Nayak has read his LL.M. from the prestigious University of Cambridge and was awarded various coveted scholarships such as?he Prathiba M. Singh Cambridge Trust Scholarship and the J.N. Tata Endowment for the Higher Education of Indians.?e also served as the Co-President of the postgraduate student committee (MCR) at St. Catharine’s College in Cambridge.?oreover, he frequently contributes articles on various technology and privacy-related topics, which have been published in esteemed legal journals and national newspapers.?/p>

The Centre for Public Policy, Law and Good Governance (CPPLGG) and the NLUO Centre for Mediation and Negotiation (CMN) are delighted to announce a Single Credit Course on “Negotiation & Mediation Training’ which shall be conducted in the last week of February, 2024.?/p>
About the Course:
This course is doctored to train the students in practical aspects of negotiation and mediation wherein the students shall be taught about various techniques and strategies adopted at various stages of such processes. Given the fact that the Mediation Act, 2023 significantly enhances the scope of Pre-Litigation Mediation and Negotiation processes in Civil and Commercial disputes, it shall inevitably lead to rising demand of trained professionals to handle such matters. The present course is designed to cater all such skills required for being a Mediation professional.?/p>
Key highlights of the Course:
- The course shall provide in depth understanding of Negotiation and Mediation skills through an intensively designed curriculum supplemented with practical training sessions and simulation exercises.
- The course encompasses special focus on different techniques and strategies adopted (nationally and internationally) during different stages of Mediation and Negotiation.
- Special emphasis on Commercial Negotiations & Mediation processes.
About the Resource Person:
Mr. Mohit Mokal is nationally and internationally acclaimed certified trained professional working actively in the field of negotiation and mediation. He is a Certified Mediator from IMI, SIMI, CMC, ADR ODR UK. He has trained and mentored over 1000 students in over 55 mediation & negotiation competitions in the capacity of either a participant, coach, judge or organizer. Mr. Mokal possess significant amount of experience in assisting his clients at both national and international level. Notably, his services were also received by Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in famous Ayodhya – Babri Masjid dispute, 2019.

IBBI
The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India was established on 1st October, 2016 under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 (Code). It is a key pillar of the ecosystem responsible for implementation of the Code that consolidates and amends the laws relating to reorganization and insolvency resolution of corporate persons, partnership firms and individuals in a time bound manner for maximization of the value of assets of such persons, to promote entrepreneurship, availability of credit and balance the interests of all the stakeholders. It is a unique regulator: that regulates a profession as well as processes. It has regulatory oversight over the Insolvency Professionals, Insolvency Professional Agencies, Insolvency Professional Entities and Information Utilities. It writes and enforces rules for processes, namely, corporate insolvency resolution, corporate liquidation, individual insolvency resolution and individual bankruptcy under the Code. It has recently been tasked to promote the development of, and regulate, the working and practices of, insolvency professionals, insolvency professional agencies and information utilities and other institutions, in furtherance of the purposes of the Code. It has also been designated as the ‘Authority’ under the Companies (Registered Valuers and Valuation Rules), 2017 for regulation and development of the profession of valuers in the country

The Centre for Banking and Insurance Law (CBIL) at National Law University Odisha is dedicated to facilitating higher learning, research, and allied activities in the twin areas of Banking and Insurance Law. It strives to foster intelligent analysis; focusing on enabling a deep and pervasive understanding of policies, regulatory mechanisms, and other aspects of these legal domains at state, national, and international levels. The Centre for Banking and Insurance Law (CBIL) at National Law University Odisha is dedicated to facilitating higher learning, research, and allied activities in the twin areas of Banking and Insurance Law.
