About Dr. Shams Tanwi

Dr. Tanwi Shams joined National Law University Odisha as an Assistant Professor of Law in July 2023. Prior to that, she was working as a Research Associate of Law at National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam. She completed her Ph.D. from North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong, Meghalaya, and earned her MBA in Human Resource Management from Sikkim Manipal University. Dr. Tanwi acquired her Master of Laws in Intellectual Property and Technology Law from the National University of Singapore. In addition to her academic achievements, she has extensive experience in the banking sector, having worked in a government bank in Assam for over eight years before transitioning to academia.

About Mr. Kumarjeeb Pegu

Mr. Kumarjeeb Pegu currently serves as Assistant Professor of Law at NLUO. Prior to joining the institution, he worked with KIIT School of Law, Bhubaneswar. He completed his undergraduate studies in B.A. Political Science (Hons) at S.G.T.B. Khalsa College, North Campus, Uni. of Delhi, where he was recognized as the ‘Best All-rounder’ in his academic batch and received the S. Mohinder Singh Memorial Scholarship Award. He earned his LL.B from Campus Law Centre, Uni. of Delhi, where he actively participated in the Legal Aid Society and served as the ‘Public Relations Secretary’ for the Counseling and Welfare Cell for the Northeastern States during the 2013-14 academic year. Additionally, he obtained his LL.M from Nalsar Law University, Hyderabad.

His academic interests primarily revolve around Indigenous Peoples and Rights, environmental law, international law, and related subjects, particularly within the realm of public international law and international institutions.

Beyond academia, Mr. Pegu is an avid nature traveller and seeker of cultural interactions.

About Ms. Ayushi Srivastava

Ayushi is presently serving as an Assistant Professor of Law (Contractual) at National Law University Odisha. She joined the university as Research Associate cum Teaching Assistant. Ayushi has a keen interest in Criminal law and its intersection with gender justice pursuant to which she undertook her dissertation on the topic ‘A need-based analysis of the concept of Marital Rape’ for her LL.M. from Maharashtra National Law University, Mumbai. She completed her B.A.LL.B(Hons.) from National Law University, Patiala, Punjab, and cleared the UGC-NET examination in 2022. Prior to joining NLUO, she worked as a content developer and a freelance educator for competitive exams like Judicial services exams, CLAT-PG exam, and UGC-NET exam. Helping students is the reason she stepped into the world of academics. Apart from this, she worked with non-profit organizations in creating awareness about mental health issues and was also a contributor to a research and advocacy project which dealt with the ‘Mental healthcare structure in India’.

About Ms. Kriti Srivastava

Kriti Srivastava is presently serving as an Assistant Professor of Law at National Law University, Odisha. She joined the university as a Research Associate cum Teaching Assistant in 2022. She has been enrolled as an Advocate at the Bihar State Bar Council since 2021 and prior to joining NLUO, was litigating in the Patna High Court and District Courts. Kriti completed her BA.LLB(H) from Amity Law School, Noida with specialisation in Intellectual Property Laws in the year 2020 and her LLM in Constitutional and Administrative laws in 2021. Kriti made her dissertation on the topic “Role of Indian Constitution in Environmental Protection: A Judicial Analysis”. About Mr. Sikandar Mohd

Mohd Sikandar has an LLB from University of Lucknow and LLM from NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad. His research interest lies in Public International Law, Human Rights Law and Terrorism Law. In particular, his research explores the rights of the minorities and women’s rights during armed conflict. Besides, he is interested in examining the impact of emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence on human rights. His recent work has analysed the viability of a dedicated AI Law in India.

About Ms. Solomon Athena K

Athena Solomon K specializes in Human Rights Law with a strong focus on Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, Forensic Science, and legal pluralism. Her current research centers on legal pluralism in tribal areas. She has completed her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Law with a specialization in Human Rights. With one year of experience in the Calicut Sessions and District Court, Athena brings practical insights to her academic role. Since joining Saveetha School of Law as an Assistant Professor in 2021, she has demonstrated a strong commitment to public interest. In 2019, she filed a public interest litigation in the High Court of Kerala against Telegram for promoting the dissemination of child pornographic content. Her research on the legal protection of transgender persons highlights the shortcomings of the Transgenders (Protection of Rights) Act 2019. Athena’s dedication to human rights and legal education is evident in her comprehensive approach to both research and teaching.

About Mr. Udit Narayan Mishra

Udit graduated in Commerce and Law from the University of Delhi in 2016. A keen debater, he won several prestigious debate competitions during his college years. Before entering academia, he practiced as an advocate, assisting in various cases before the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, the Delhi High Court, subordinate courts in Delhi-NCR and Madhya Pradesh, as well as tribunals and other quasi-judicial bodies. From 2017 until recently, he has also taught judicial services aspirants, often on a pro bono basis. His practical experience as a lawyer fostered in him a deep interest in both civil and criminal procedural laws. Beyond his legal pursuits, Mr. Mishra also enjoys literature and the performing arts.

About Mr. Mohanty Subhaprad

Subhaprad Mohanty is currently working as Research Associate cum Teaching Assistant at National Law University, Odisha. Mr.Mohanty joined the University in 2017 in the Litigation Management Project to undertake research on educational related cases pending in different courts of Odisha. The outcome of the research culminated in a seminal book mapping analysis of different such cases. Thereafter, he started teaching subjects like Corporate Law, Indirect Taxation, Public International Law and et al. He also has keen interest in the intersectional field of Law and emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence, blockchain, 5G etc. In pursuit of research interest Mr. Mohanty takes a seminar paper on Artificial Intelligence and Law for final year students. He intends to pursue his doctoral studies in the field of Artificial Intelligence too. An avid reader and as enthusiastic quizzer Mr. Mohanty also dabbles in freelance writing. He wants to publish his fiction novel in the genre of law and technology before he hits the age of 35.  He also works as a volunteer for Centre for Social Justice, a grassroots level NGO and Bakul Children foundation.
