OVERVIEW

The Internship Committee at NLUO is dedicated to facilitating valuable internship opportunities for NLUO students across diverse sectors within the legal field, including prestigious law firms, legal chambers, government and non-government organizations, and more.

VISION AND MISSION

The vision of the committee remains to prepare the students for practical legal experience, fostering advocacy and judicial skills. This comes in with preparing the students for a stronger recruitment conduct. By arranging internships each semester, the committee aids in transitioning students from academics to professional settings, enhancing employability, and instilling professional ethics.
Internship Committee’s mission is to foster professional development and elevate NLUO’s standing. Beyond internships, our initiatives focus on facilitating student-industry interactions and cultivating a culture of excellence. These efforts contribute to building strong professional networks and fostering a culture of continuous learning within the NLUO community.

OBJECTIVE

Internship Committee’s objective is to facilitate professional growth for NLUO students by securing diverse internships and organising student-industry interactions to enhance their skills and network within the legal field. Furthermore, we aim to equip students with an awareness of how legal organizations work and to augment their knowledge.

ACTIVITIES / EVENTS

Internship Opportunities: The committee offers internship opportunities to students per semester at Tier-1 law firms, boutique law firms, chambers and organizations. During this internship, students must do legal research and draft pleadings, briefs, opinions, or other legal documentations as directed by the firms etc. Internships may also include working in law firms, assisting lawyers and judges in court, and witnessing court proceedings etc.

The committee always strives to secure the best internships for students from the market leaders. The committee has always been successful in securing the internship slots from various Tier-I law firms, including Khaitan & Co., Trilegal, Saraf & Partners, Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, Nishith Desai Associates etc., other Tier-II law firms, litigation chambers, NGOs and boutique firms, on a regular basis.

CV Drafting Sessions: To equip new students with the skills to craft impactful resumes, the Internship Committee conducted CV Drafting session for the newly admitted 2024-29 (5-Year Course), 2024-27 (3-Year LLB course) and 2024-25 B.A. Law batches. By focusing on key elements like academic achievements, extracurricular activities, and internships, the sessions empowered students to effectively showcase their qualifications to potential employers. The session also highlighted an ‘Idea Internship Roadmap’ in order to assist the students in planning out their internship trajectory.

Webinars: The Internship Committee successfully launched the “Navigating the Legal Career: Expert Insights” webinar series during the 2023-24 academic year. This comprehensive initiative offered students invaluable exposure to diverse legal domains, including Technology Law, Dispute Resolution, Competition Law, the Judiciary, and the Civil Services. Renowned experts from these fields shared their insights, guiding students as they explored potential career paths within the legal profession.

  1. Webinar on Navigating the career in JudiciaryThe first webinar of the series was led by Ayushi Upadhyay, Civil Judge, Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh. The informative session which was attended by 82 students, provided an insightful exploration of career paths and opportunities within the field of judiciary. The discussion also delved into valuable practical guidance, including preparation strategies for judiciary exams and interview techniques, tracing her path from dedicated preparation to the fulfilling role of a Civil Judge.
  2. Webinar on Navigating the career in Civil ServicesThe next webinar explored the career in Civil Services. The esteemed guest speaker, Ms. Anshika Jain, Assistant Director at the Sports Authority of India (SAI), shared her insights and experience in this distinguished field. This informative session provided a comprehensive overview of Civil Services careers. Ms. Jain discussed the diverse career paths, eligibility requirements, and the structure of various civil service exams. She also offered helpful tips and strategies for preparing for the interview process, which many students found particularly valuable. Additionally, Ms. Jain provided a realistic perspective on the day-to-day challenges faced by civil servants, helping students make informed decisions about their career goals. The interactive format of the session encouraged lively discussion and allowed students to ask questions directly of Ms. Jain. This exchange of knowledge and experience proved to be a valuable resource for students considering a career in the Civil Services.
