In pursuit of its goal of promoting knowledge in the field of law, National Law University Odisha (NLUO) offers the following Three-Year (3-Year) LL.B undergraduate programme.

Given below are the category-wise availability of the seats.

Note:

  • The number of seats under NRI Sponsored Candidates may vary based upon the decision of the Governing Body of the Institution.
  • Eligibility Criteria for AIR & Domicile Reservation: Candidates who have passed the 12th class or equivalent examination from the state of Odisha and secured at least 60% marks (or its equivalent grade) in the said examination from any recognized College/University in the State of Odisha. The candidate must have a valid domicile/residential certificate issued by Govt. of Odisha. 3.5% seats shall be reserved horizontally for specially abled persons (SAP) at the All India Level.
  • In Conversion Policy (upon Vacant Seats during Admission Process): If no candidate is available against the Seats reserved for Resident Students of Odisha, such Seats shall be added to the relevant Categories under All India Quota. The unfilled Seats reserved for Scheduled Caste candidates shall be assigned to Scheduled Tribe candidates and vice-versa. If sufficient eligible SC and ST candidates are not available to fill such Seats, they shall be assigned to All India General Category candidates in order of merit. The vacant Seats in Foreign Nations would be reallocated to NRI/NRIS/OCI/PIO category and subsequently, if not filled up, then would be assigned to the All India General category.

Educational Qualification for Admission to 3-YEAR LL.B U.G.Programme:
Persons with a graduate degree in any discipline may apply for the course. Those who are appearing for the final year graduation exams or awaiting results may also apply in anticipation.
At the time of admission the candidate needs to provide a provisional pass certificate or the final pass certificate along with conduct certificate and migration certificate.
Application Fee
Candidates for three-year LLB admission has to pay while filling the application the following amount –
For General Category – Rs. 3000/-
For SCT/ST/PWD – Rs. 2500/-

Admission Test
Admission will be on the basis of All India Test. The entrance exam will be one paper of 120 multiple choice questions of 120 marks.
Questions will be from the following areas:

  • General English
  • General Awareness
  • General Reasoning

The duration of the entrance exam will be of 2hrs.
NOTE: There will be no negative marking in the entrance exam.

Scholarship: The National Law University Odisha has started offering scholarships to deserving and needy undergraduate students from the second year onwards, keeping in view their financial status, needs and their academic achievement(s). The University also makes every effort to announce scholarships offered by outside agencies which may be of interest to our students.
Earning While Learning: Earning while learning is a student aid scheme instituted by NLUO to help students tide over financial insufficiency. Under this Scheme University allows students to serve in the library or work on the research projects undertaken by the University from time to time in lieu of remuneration to be decided by the University.

Choice-Based Credit System: NLUO has introduced the choice-based credit system. A student pursuing 3-year LL.B. degree course will have to obtain 144 credits to get the LL.B. degree. A student will have to earn a minimum of 20 credits in a semester and 40 credits in a year in the subjects offered in that semester/year. Students may obtain the remaining balance of credits in subsequent years of their programme.

A student will get the advantage of a maximum of 24 credits obtained from other universities and higher education institutions which are authorized to award degrees as per the law in this regard in force. This includes credits obtained through courses offered on the SWAYAM platform. A student can obtain a maximum of eight credits in non-law courses. Credits obtained from other universities or the SWAYAM platform will be adjusted against the optional courses only.
