UGC-MHRD yearlong celebration of the 70th Anniversary of the Constitution Day: 2019-20″””””””

To mark the anniversary of the adoption of India’s Constitution on November 26, 1949, in 2015 the Government decided to observe 26th November as ‘Constitution Day’ or Samvidhan Diwas. On this day in 1949, the Indian Constitution was adopted which came into force on January 26, 1950 marking the beginning of a new era in the history of India.
The ‘Constitution Day’ will be a part of year-long nationwide celebrations starting from 26th November, 2019 during which a number of activities with special emphasis on Fundamental Duties have been planned by UGC throughout the year with the active participation of HEIs. As the part of a yearlong celebration, UGC MHRD has nominated National Law University Odisha as the State Coordinator for the State of Odisha. For the celebration, there are different competitions/activities which are proposed by UGC which are to be conducted till 26th November 2020. These competitions include debating competition, moot court and mock parliament. Additionally, activities and competition like video/poster making competition, skit, tree plantation, workshops, lectures, panel discussions etc would be also be organised. As mandated by UGC the events have to be on the theme of fundamental duties as enshrined in the Constitution of India.
Dr. Owais Hasan Khan (owaishasankhan@nluo.ac.in<), Assistant Professor of Law, has been appointed as the Nodal Officer from NLU Odisha to coordinate the smooth conduct of the yearlong celebration.
