Single Credit Course Announcement on “Disability Rights: A Legal Perspective”

03 Dec 2024

The Centre for Disability Law and Advocacy (CDLA) at National Law University Odisha is proud to offer a comprehensive single credit course on Disability Law, designed to enhance awareness, disseminate crucial information, and provide an accessible learning platform for students, legal professionals, and anyone interested in understanding the rights and needs of individuals with disabilities. This course aims to deepen participants’ knowledge of the legal framework surrounding disability rights, with a special emphasis on national and international laws, policies, and practices that promote inclusion, equality, and justice for persons with disabilities.

In an era where the need for inclusion and empowerment of marginalized communities is at the forefront of legal reforms, this course seeks to provide students with an in-depth understanding of the historical, social, and legal challenges faced by persons with disabilities. By offering a structured curriculum that includes lectures, case studies, and interactive discussions, the course ensures that participants are not only equipped with the theoretical knowledge of disability laws but are also able to apply this knowledge in real-world contexts.

In an era where the need for inclusion and empowerment of marginalized communities is at the forefront of legal reforms, this course seeks to provide students with an in-depth understanding of the historical, social, and legal challenges faced by persons with disabilities. Participants will explore key legal principles, landmark case law, and the role of various legal instruments such as the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.

Whether you are a law student, an advocate, or simply an individual interested in understanding disability rights, this course is a valuable opportunity to explore the legal dimensions of disability and contribute to creating a more inclusive society. With expert faculty and a focus on practical insights, the CDLA Disability Law course promises to be an essential tool for anyone passionate about human rights and social justice.

The single credit course is scheduled for the dates 18th to 23rd January, 2025 and will be held in a hybrid mode of instruction. Further, the credit course is open to all, whether students or professionals or anyone with a desire to learn more about the law. The fee structure will be INR 500 for students and INR 800 for NGOs and professionals. The deadline for registration for the credit course will be 10th January, 2025.
