“NLUO Centre for Tribal Studies on a visit to Kutumb Adopted village on 2nd April 2023.”

The Centre for Tribal Studies, NLUO visited the Munda Sahi Village at Sector 13, CDA, Cuttack on 2nd April 2023 during 11 am -1.50 pm hours.?/p>
Munda Sahi village, CDA Sector 13 is an adopted?illage under the University’s Kutumb initiative.?he majority of the population of the village consists of various tribal groups (both Scheduled Tribes and Tribes).
Around 50 residents (women and children) took part in the activities at the village community hall.?/p>
The activities conducted during the visit are as follows;
- Cleanliness Drive
Under the initiative, the university students with faculties took part in a cleanliness drive around the community hall area. Also, an awareness drive about a clean and safe environment was conducted in the?rocess.
- Awareness program on Tribal Rights
The students played a short video clip on tribal rights and justice depicting the Birbor Scheduled Tribe and their interaction with state machinery in Jharkhand State.
Thereafter, an?u>’awareness talk cum interaction’?was conducted by the students and faculty for the gathered residents.?/p>
Various information ranging from Constitutional Rights of the Scheduled Tribes (ST) of Odisha, legal documentation and application filing for ST Certificates, community rights, etc were undertaken.
- Informal interviews with the residents by the Centre
During the interaction with the residents, interviews were also conducted by the Centre.?/p>
The focused?reas ranged from questions pertinent to the preservation of cultural, linguistic, and community rights, legal representation, access to justice, etc.
