The Competitive Exams Guidance Committee of National Law University, Odisha (NLUO) successfully organized a two-day session aimed at honing the answer-writing skills of students preparing for judicial services exams. The event featured a Judicial Answer Writing Session, followed by a Discussion and Guidance Session by Mr. Chirayato Banerjee, who is a Judicial Officer in the West Bengal Judicial Services and an alumnus of National Law University, Odisha.
Day 1: Answer Writing Session
The first session focused on hands-on answer writing. Few of our students undertook the test. The questions for the session were meticulously crafted by Mr. Banerjee himself for the students, ensuring that they were in line with the standards of judicial services examinations. The session was conducted under the close supervision of the Competitive Exams Guidance Committee members, who provided additional support and facilitation.
During this session, students were tested on their ability to frame answers under time constraints, simulating actual exam conditions. The exercise was aimed at helping students understand how to effectively structure their responses and present legal arguments and reasonings concisely.
Day 2: Discussion and Guidance Session
The following day, an interactive Discussion and Guidance Session was conducted under the supervision of Mr. Banerjee. After the welcome address by the esteemed faculty advisor Mr. Udit Narayan Mishra and Dr Tanwi Shams, Mr. Banerjee began by discussing about the answer writing done by students the day before followed by sharing his personal preparation journey, providing valuable insights into the rigors of preparing for judicial services exams. He elaborated on his study techniques and how he maintained discipline throughout the process. He discussed key strategies for answer writing, emphasizing the importance of clarity, brevity, and precision in judicial exams. His guidance on structuring answers and presenting legal reasoning was particularly beneficial for the aspirants.
In addition to the technical advice, Mr. Banerjee shared his experiences as a judiciary aspirant and later, as a judge. He spoke candidly about the challenges and rewards of being part of the judiciary, offering a balanced perspective on life both during the preparation phase and after achieving success. A large part of the session went by with the intellectual and crucial interaction between the students and Mr. Banerjee.
The sessions were highly appreciated by the participants, who found Mr. Banerjee’s insights and tips extremely helpful. His inspiring words and practical advice motivated the aspirants, leaving them better equipped and more confident in their preparation for the judicial services exams.
The event was a resounding success, providing students with both practical answer-writing experience and personalized guidance from an esteemed figure in the judiciary. The Competitive Exams Guidance Committee of NLUO continues to play a pivotal role in supporting and guiding students as they prepare for competitive exams, and this session is a testament to their ongoing efforts.
