The Society for Law, Literature, and Debates is thrilled to announce the successful completion of the 8th National Law University Odisha British Parliamentary Debate 2023 from the 31st of March to the 2nd of April 2023.
This year, we hosted the first offline edition of NLUO BPD in three years. On our Core Adjudication Panel, we had Mehul Joshi, Prashasti Saxena, and V Sayiram, who are renowned in the debating circuit, both in India, and internationally. The Equity Panel for NLUO BPD was composed of Anum Naseer, a renowned equity officer, debater, and adjudicator in international circuits, alongside our very own Nivedita Shaktawat and Samrath Kaur Kalsi, who are experienced equity officers from our University. We received registrations from teams representing institutions such as NLSIU, MNLU, DSNLU, St. Xaviers Kolkata, IIT Kharagpur, Delhi Technological University, and more. We were also delighted to welcome teams from KIIT University, AIIMS Bhubaneswar, and Utkal University, who helped us make a strong local impact. With registrations pouring in from across the country, we also hosted adjudicators from various parts of India who joined us remotely.
Being the most renowned British Parliamentary Debate in the Eastern circuit, the tournament provided a platform for participants to engage in lively debates and showcase their critical thinking and communication skills. Our Sponsor, Indian Metals and Ferro Alloys Ltd, a renowned company based in Odisha, supported us in making this edition one of our largest-ever offline editions.
We are delighted to announce that the winner of the 8th edition of the NLUO British Parliamentary Debate is St. Xavier’s Kolkata. Their exceptional performance and debating skills set them apart from the other teams and secured them a well-deserved victory. We would also like to congratulate the Shashwat Dash for being named the Best Adjudicator of the tournament. Their expertise and insight helped to make the tournament a memorable experience for all participants.
In conclusion, we would like to thank all the participants, judges, and volunteers who contributed to the success of the 8th edition of the NLUO British Parliamentary Debate. We hope that this tournament has inspired participants to continue engaging in intellectual discourse and to hone their critical thinking and communication skills. We look forward to hosting the next edition of the tournament and welcoming new and returning participants to the National Law University Odisha campus.
