The Constitutional Society of National Law University Odisha, under the aegis of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Shri Krishna Deva Rao and the Registrar (I/C) Dr. Yogesh Pratap Singh, successfully organized a certificate course on the topic ‘Supreme Court Practice and Procedure’ under the theme ‘Quintessence of Constitution: Public Policy and Public Interest’ in collaboration with Recruitment Coordination Committee (RCC) Batch 2020 of National Law University Odisha and YuvaSansad (MPYS). There were two renowned course instructors for this Certificate Course namely Adv. Shriya Maini and Adv. Kumar Shanu, both of them being practicing Advocates in the Supreme Court of India.
The aim of this Certificate Course was to observe practices of Supreme Court in drafting and procedural formalities in the cases of Special Leave Petition (SLP), Writ Petitions (WP)and Public Interest Litigations (PIL). With the theoretical aspects already there in NLUO’s academic curriculum, it was the intention to provide the students with much-needed practical nuances to be observed in the Supreme Court procedure. Adv. Shriya Maini taught about the aspects of Special Leave Petitions and Writ Petitions while Adv. Kumar Shanu dealt with the practical technicalities of Public Interest Litigations.
183 students registered for this Certificate Course amassing a huge audience to learn more about the hands-on training provided to the students. This course was especially fruitful for students who wish to upgrade their qualification for the purpose of career specialization in civil, commercial and criminal litigation/dispute resolution and who have a keep interest in procedural laws.
