CALL FOR PAPERS – NLUO STUDENT LAW JOURNAL (NLUO-SLJ)
The NLUO Student Law Journal ?s a student-run, peer reviewed ?cademic journal published semi-annually and bears the ISSN No. 2305-062X. It is now accepting submissions for its forthcoming Volume 5 Issue 1 (2020). Contributions are solicited from undergraduate and postgraduate students of law and other disciplines. In exceptional cases, submissions from full-time doctoral students may be considered at the discretion of the editorial board.
?strong>Categories:
Submissions may be in the form of articles, short notes, case/legislation comments, or book reviews.
- Articles (about 6000-8000).
- Comments (specific to a single issue) (about 3000-4000 words).
- Case/Legislative Comments (about 3000 words).
- Book Reviews (about 2000 words).
The word limits above are exclusive of footnotes.

A maximum of three co-authors is permissible for articles, and a maximum of two for short notes. Comments and book reviews must be by individual authors only.
Please note that NLUO-SLJ follows a strict no-plagiarism policy.
Submissions are subjected to plagiarism checks commensurate with appropriate international standards. NLUO-SLJ also follows a strict exclusive submission policy. No submission should be published or under consideration for publication anywhere else.

?strong>Submission Procedure:
NLUO-SLJ accepts submissions only through e-mail. MS Word (.doc, .docx) and Open Office Writer (.odf) are the only accepted file formats. Files in other formats, particularly PDF, shall not be considered.
Submissions may be sent to the following address: nluo-slj@nluo.ac.in. The subject line of the covering e-mail should contain the following:
- Mention of the fact that it is a submission for Volume 5 Issue 1
- If a short note, case comment, legislative comment, or book review, then the type of submission (not applicable for articles)
- The abbreviated title of the submission.
The covering e-mail should contain the following particulars:
- Full title of the submission
- Type of the submission
- Word count
- The name, affiliation, and contact details of the author (in case of multiple authors, the names and affiliations of all authors, and the contact details of the corresponding author)
Pre-Submission Checklist:
We at NLUO-SLJ strongly recommend that prior to submission, authors take utmost care to ensure that the following are complied with.
1.?!–[endif]–>Please ensure that references correspond strictly to prescribed guidelines.
2.?!–[endif]–>Please refrain from using unnecessary decorations, specifically page borders.
3.?!–[endif]–>Please ensure submissions are single spaced throughout, and with no paragraph formatting features such as spacing above paragraph or spacing below paragraph.
4.?!–[endif]–>When referring to journals, ensure that the full name is used and not abbreviations.
5.?!–[endif]–>Submissions plagiarised beyond acceptable standards are liable to be summarily rejected.

Regional Consultation on Female Labour Force Participation Rate
Centre for Women & Law and Centre for Industrial Relations & Labour Laws of National Law University Odisha in collaboration with National Commission for Women (NCW), Government of India and V. V. Giri National Labour Institute, Noida is organising a “Regional Consultation on Female Labour Force Participation Rate (FLFPR)” on 6th March 2020.
The main themes of the consultation are crimes against women and its relation with FLFPR; respect for safety, rights and dignity of women and cultural norms and mindsets vis-a-vis women and their relation to FLFP; impact of sexual harassment of women at workplaces, public places etc; impact of prevailing laws on FLFPR; impact on FLFPR on marriages, pregnancy, child birth, child care and other responsibilities of women; transition from informal to formal sector and the specific scenarios prevailing in these sectors vis-a-vis women.
The venue for the consultation is Conference room, Academic Block, National Law University Odisha.

The Recruitment Coordination Committee is delighted to inform that Mr. Chandramauli Dwivedi (Senior Associate and NLUO alumnus) and Ms. Kanika Chaudhary Nayyar (Partner) from the competition team at L&L Partners would be coming to our university to hold a session on ‘Developments on Competition Law’ on April 3, 2020. Ms.Kanika Chaudhary Nayar is a Partner at the Competition Law Practice Group at the Firm. Ms. Kanika Chaudhary Nayyar, holder of a master degree from the prestigious King’s College London with merit in International Commercial Laws along with EC Competition Lawn regularly appears before the Competition Commission, NCLAT, High Court and the Supreme Court representing clients in a variety of matters including cartel investigations, abuse of dominance cases, as well as matters relating to anti-competitive agreements. She had been recognised by The Legal 500 and Asia Pacific 2019. She is one of the recommended lawyers in Competition and Antitrust Expert Guides 2018.Chandramauli Dwivedi, a senior associate placed with the competition law practice groupof L&L Partners Law Offices who graduated from National Law University Odisha in 2016 with Honours, regularly acts for clients in ongoing litigation in all major forums. He has represented clients from various sectors such as steel, healthcare, alcoholic beverages, construction equipment, pharmaceuticals, airlines, cement and paper industry.
About the session: The Recruitment Coordination Committee will hold this session with the object of conducting this session is to impart practical knowledge and know-how to students who intend to pursue careers in this field. It will help them learn about the technicality and complexity of the law and apprehend various facets of client and case management. Further, it will help students learn about the potential employment opportunities.

Informal Discussion Group NLUO to host 24th Guest Lecture by Mr. Bharat Chugh.
Informal Discussion Group, NLUO is delighted to inform that Mr. Bharat Chugh would be coming to our university on 5th March 2020 as a part of the Lecture series conducted by the Informal Discussion Group. An ex-judge, Mr. Chugh is a partner in the Dispute Resolution practice of L&L Partners (previously Luthra and Luthra law offices). A graduate from the 2011 batch of Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi, Mr. Chugh secured an All India Rank 1 in the prestigious Delhi Judicial Services Examination. At 23 years, he was the youngest person to crack the examination. After having served as a judge for almost two years, his inclination towards practice led him to join L&L where he was made a partner in 2018 at the age of 29 years. Mr. Chugh has a keen interest in academics and is often called to judge national and international moot courts and also delivers talks/conducts work-shops on a wide spectrum of legal issues. Mr.Chugh is also extremely passionate about writing and his columns, articles and interviews regularly feature in legal journals and newspapers.

LexTech – Center for Law, Entrepreneurship & Innovation, NLUO is conducting an interactive session on the 28th of February, 2020 (Friday) under the “Leadership Talk” series. The interactive session will be headed by Mr Sharad Sagar, CEO of Dexterity Inc. on the importance of Social Entrepreneurship in the New-Age Economy and World.
Brief on Mr Sharad Sagar<
Mr Sharad Sagar is an Indian youth icon, a globally renowned entrepreneur and a 21st-century leader whose words and work in the field of education and public service is inspiring a generation. He was invited by Former US President Barack Obama invited him to the White House in 2016. In addition to this, Forbes listed him on the Global 30 under 30 List in 2016, the Rockefeller Foundation inducted him in the list of 100 Next Century Innovators, the Nobel Peace Center invited him to the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony in 2017.
The Venue for the same shall be Seminar Hall, Academic Block.
