In the last 18 months, our usage of the internet has increased tremendously. We use the internet for online classes, research and drafting, and for our leisure time?hroughout the day. We live in a world where social media has become an inevitable part of our lives and with newer platforms like Clubhouse, Triller etc., this has only worsened.

With the increase in the use of the internet and social media, there is an increase in cyberbullying.?n a nutshell, cyberbullying can be extremely detrimental to the victim’s physical and?ental health.

Given the importance of awareness on cyberbullying in today’s context, it gives us immense pleasure to announce that?strong>TribeVibe Entertainment Pvt. Nirali Bhatia is a Director at V4WEB Technologies and has founded Cyber B.A.A.P,?hich stands for Cyber Bullying Awareness, Action and Prevention, based in Mumbai, India, an?rganization that provides guidance and counselling to victims of cyberbullying. The organization?onducts awareness and training sessions on cyber safety and digital hygiene for children, parents, educators, police, organisations, and schools. Apart from this, Nirali Bhatia has also been the Vice Chair at Fire and Security Association of India (FSAI).

The Seventh Convocation of NLUO is being held on August 7, 2021 in a hybrid Mode (physical cum virtual). Padmashree Dr. Prathibha Ray, Academician, Renowned Writer and Gyanpith Awardee has kindly consented to deliver the Convocation Address on an e – platform. The Convocation will be presided over by Dr. Justice S. Muralidhar, Chief Justice of Orissa and Chancellor of NLUO at the NLUO campus.

2 B.Voc, 111 UG and 36 PG graduates will receive degrees in this convocation. Some of the students will come to the University physically to join the Convocation and receive the degree “In Person” while remaining will get either in “absentia” or on virtual platform. The Convocation will be held in a Big Auditorium of 1500 capacity with strict adherence to the COVID guidelines issued by the Government of Odisha.

Applications are open for Double Credit Course on International Right to Health by Sr. Adv. Mr Anand Grover

The Centre for Public Health Law is organising a Double credit course on International Right to Health by Mr Anand Grover, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India from 6th August to 12th September, 2021. Mr Grover was the UN Special Rapporteur on the right of everyone to the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health (Right to Health) by the UN Human Rights Council from August 2008 to July 2014.

The course focuses on the development of an international right to health from various human rights treatises.?It then discusses the interplay and implications of such a right on other crucial issues like:

  • The HIV/AIDS movement and Vulnerable groups,
  • The impact that TRIPS and IPR have on access to medicine,
  • The impact of other free trade agreements and ISDS on access to medicine,
  • The COVID-19 Pandemic and Responses to it.

The course has been uniquely designed in terms of pedagogy which is learner centric. Class engagement, debate and discussion are encouraged throughout the course. Students will be asked to examine, reflect on, and critique public health and economic strategies through the right based approach to health.

We have received a tremendous applause from the student’s currently enrolled in the course. They appreciate the dialogue based learning which provides equal platform to everyone to share their experiences and learn from it. Consequently, since the beginning of the course from August 6, we have been receiving a lot of queries and requests to open the course for law teachers, non-nluo students, researcher scholars, doctors, lawyers, public health practitioners and various other interested people. It has therefore been decided by the Vice-Chancellor, NLUO, Prof Ved Kumari and Mr. Grover to allow a limited number [15] of interested candidates join mid course on first come first serve basis.

What are the benefits of the course?

The Centre for Competition Law and Policy is elated to announce its first event for the academic session 2021-22. This academic year, we aim to bring to you some finest events within the broad contours of the Competition Law ranging from guest lectures to competitions. We shall also be inviting leading national and international experts on Competition Law to engage in debate and discussion in this nascent field of law.

The inaugural event is a Guest Lecture which will be delivered by Ms. Nidhi Singh, Empanelled Counsel, Delhi High Court and Practitioner, Supreme Court of India on August 1, 2021 at 12:30 PM. The theme of the lecture would be “Virtual Competition through the lens of an algorithm driven market

Profile of the Speaker <

Ms. Nidhi is presently an empanelled counsel with the Delhi High Court and is also practising at the Supreme Court of India. She is a founder and a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for Commercial Policy & Legal Research, New Delhi. She is also an expert with the Antitrust & Big Data vertical at Institute for Internet & Just Society, Germany. Further, she is a global shaper with the World Economic Forum and also a part of Academic Council -KIIT, Bhubaneswar. She has also previously worked as a Law Officer with the Investigation Office, Competition Commission of India and as an Associate (Competition Law) with Trilegal, Mumbai.

Ms. Nidhi is currently enrolled as a JSM candidate and SPILS Fellow at Stanford Law School, USA. She has also done an M.A. in Economics for Competition Law from King’s College London. Ms. Nidhi has also passed with distinction in Public Policy/Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School.?She also pursued MSc in Law & Finance from Faculty of Law and Sa? Business School, University of Oxford as a Louis-Dreyfus Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Scholar.
