Training workshop on the New Criminal Laws
In response to the enactment of the new criminal laws, and to ensure their effective implementation, National Law University Odisha, Cuttack organized a “Training Workshop on the New Criminal Laws for Officers of Odisha Police” in collaboration with Biju Patnaik State Police Academy, Bhubaneswar. The workshop spanned over a period of 5 days i.e., July 14, 21 and 27, and August 3 and 10, 2024. The workshop was successful in achieving its aim to sensitize around 500 police officers (including Inspectors, Addl. SPs and DSPs), of the changes in the new criminal laws.
The Training Workshop was efficiently designed to create awareness and training of police officers, with the understanding, appreciation, applicability, implementation, and efficiency of the new criminal laws i.e., Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023 and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. It further aimed to equip the stakeholders with a comprehensive understanding of the key changes brought about by the new criminal laws.
This Training Workshop holistically turned out to meet the expectations of the police officers from various parts of the state to learn and enhance their skills in appreciating the new criminal laws.
