He is an officer of Odisha Finance Services (OFS) Senior Administrative Grade(SAG) rank.

Dr Rout joined in Odisha Finance Services in the year 1999 and served as Sub-Treasury Officer and Treasury Officer in different districts of Odisha under the Director of Treasuries and Inspections,Odisha Bhubaneswar. He has also served as District Audit Officer in the District of Sundargarh under the Director of Local Fund Audit,Bhubaneswar. He has also served long in different districts of Odisha under the Commissioner of Commercial Taxes and Goods and Services Tax (CT&GST) .Prior to the present posting he was the Additional Commissioner of CT&GST,Cuttack. Hence contributing the financial and administrative frameworks of the state by leveraging his long gained experience and expertise.
