About Mr. NGO Steve
Professor Steve Ngo is an international arbitrator, academic and arbitration specialist. He is the founding President of Beihai Asia International Arbitration Centre, Singapore. His professional work and academic activities focus on Southeast Asia, East Asia and South Asia. He has been consulted by both the private and public sectors on arbitration-related matters including assisting a state party in an arbitration. He has also been consulted on potential investor-state arbitration, evaluating cases against and for the state party. As a seasoned speaker and academic, he has delivered numerous lectures on arbitration and dispute resolution in the region and beyond. He has a wide range of research interests in the area of international arbitration and dispute resolution which includes cultural elements in disputes settlement, arbitration reform, current trends and innovation in dispute resolution, including recently published his research on the application of Gross National Happiness (GNH) in dispute resolution. He has authored publications on arbitration and international dispute resolution, including a book on the UNCITRAL Model Law on International Commercial Arbitration written in the Indonesian language. In addition to dispute resolution, he has a keen interest in Asian and regional studies where he is a Fellow of the Royal Asiatic Society. He is empanelled as an Arbitrator in many arbitration centres in the region and held many academic appointments. He has held roles such as independent expert to a Southeast Asian mining and energy agency. At present, among others, he is an Advisory Board Member of the Centre of Alternative Dispute Resolution, National Law University, Delhi: Member of the Asia Advisory Board of the American Arbitration Association – International Centre for Dispute Resolution (AAA-ICDR) and Council Member of the Hong Kong International Mediation Centre.
