About Dr. Paromita Chattoraj

Prof. Paromita Chattoraj graduated with LL. B (Hons) from the Department of law, University of Calcutta and completed her LL.M, having specialization in Criminal Law, with a Gold Medal in 2004. She completed her PhD. in the area of Rape Laws in 2013. Before joining NLUO, she worked at KIIT Law School for 13 years. She was a practicing lawyer at Calcutta High Court in the criminal side before coming to academics. She also worked as a Trade Mark Attorney in a reputed IP Company in Singapore briefly. She had been the recipient of ICSSR grant in 2013-14 for data Collection in California, USA for comparative research on Rape Investigation and Prosecution in India and USA. She completed two research projects, firstly, ISRD-3 from 2012-2015 funded by University of Zurich and second, ICSSR Major Research Program 2018-20 on Investigation and Trial of Rape cases in the States of WB, OD and JH
