On 3rd December 2021, on the occasion of International Day of the Persons with Disabilities, the Centre for Disability Law and Advocacy (CDLA), National Law University Odisha in association with?ahaya (Indian Red Cross Society’s Centre for Special Children – Odisha Branch) organized a webinar on?em>’Leadership and Participation of Persons with Disabilities towards an Inclusive, Accessible and Sustainable Post-Covid-19 World’.?/em>

The pool of speakers -?em>Prof. (Dr.) Krishan Mahajan,?r. Santosh Rungta,?ev. Badulle Dhammissara Bhanthe,?r. Sanjay Panda,?rs. Ananya Das,?r. Chandrika Prasad Dash, Mr. Subrat Halder?/em>- consisted of lawyers, former government?ervants?nd representatives of NGOs. The attendees got to learn, firsthand, from the immense lived experiences of these individuals in fighting?or the rights of persons with disabilities.?/p>

We began with a welcome note by?y Prof. (Dr.) Yogesh Pratap Singh, Registrar, NLU Odisha followed quickly by the recitation of shloka by?opal Sahoo. Thereafter, the speakers went one by one, sharing their experiences/work on Disability Law, rights and concerns today. Here the?peakers?overed the role the Indian Supreme Court plays in the practice of disability?aw and shared a critical perspective of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities?ct. Moreover, cantering the experiences of Persons with Disabilities, the speakers also addressed?he role of performing arts and therapy in the lives of these persons. The webinar was concluded with a vote of thanks.?/p>

The Centre is proud to have hosted such a brilliant panel of speakers and to have more than 50 attendees eagerly participating in the session. We are thankful of the supportive role of the Registrar and the Vice-Chancellor of NLUO and look forward to organizing future webinars/sessions.
