in collaboration with
Crime Against Women and Children Wing (CAW & CW), Odisha Police, Odisha

Dates: 18th May 2026 & 19th May 2026

Venue: Day 1 – Convention Hall, Police Bhawan, Bhubaneswar
Day 2 – Conference Hall, CAW & CW HQ – Odisha Police, Rasulgarh, Bhubaneswar
Time: 9.30 am to 6.30 pm (Day -1) and 9.30 am to 4.00 pm (Day -2)

About the Event:

The Centre for Child Rights – National Law University Odisha in collaboration with Crime Against Women and Child Wing (CAW & CW) of Odisha Police is organising Two-Day Training Programme on “Essentials of Child Protection” for Frontline Cadre Police Personnel and Officers of Crime Against Women and Children Wing (CAW & CW) of Odisha Police. Scheduled to be held on 18th.05.2026 and 19th.05.2026 at Bhubaneswar, this training programme is designed to strengthen the capacities of frontline police personnel and supervisory officers in addressing child protection concerns.

The programme brings together District Special Juvenile Police Unit officials, Child-Friendly Police Station personnel, and state-level officers including CAW & CW police officers, Integrated Anti Human Trafficking Unit officers etc. for an intensive learning experience. The programme emphasises on the child-friendly protocols of child protection and enabling laws such as Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, the POCSO Act, Child Marriage Act, and Child Labour Act etc.; and the intersection of these laws and mental health, equipping participants with practical skills for engaging with children in distress, including trauma-informed approaches and self-care strategies.

Overall, the training fosters a more sensitive, informed, and responsive policing approach while dealing with children.
