The session began with an introduction to private equity and venture capital, where Mr. Saha elaborated on their fundamental concepts and purposes. The discussion then shifted to an overview of private equity, delving into its structure, strategies, and objectives, followed by an examination of venture capital and its focus on funding high-potential start-ups and early-stage companies. Mr. Saha provided real-world examples to illustrate the practical impact of venture capital and highlighted the key differences between private equity and venture capital in terms of investment stages, objectives, and approaches. A significant portion of the session focused on the case study of Zomato, providing a detailed analysis of its funding timeline and the strategic role played by Info Edge as one of its earliest investors. This discussion offered valuable insights into how strategic investments contribute to the growth and valuation of companies.
In addition to financial insights, the session emphasized the critical role of lawyers in investment banking.
