Professor Mukherjeewas previously Vice President (Research), Director, Doctoral Programmes and ITF Professor of Maritime Safety and Environmental Protection at World Maritime University;Director of LL.M. and Ph.D. Programmes in Maritime Law at Lund University, Sweden;IMO Legal Adviser for the Caribbean Region; Senior Adviser, Maritime Policy and International Affairs, Canadian Hydrographic Service, Fisheries and Oceans, Canada, and Senior Deputy Director and Professor of Maritime Law, International Maritime Law Institute (IMLI), Malta. He practiced as a barrister and solicitor in Ontario, Canada, was Legal Consultant and Adviser in maritime and marine environmental matters to the International Maritime Organization of the United Nations,numerous governments, shipping companies, and law firms in Malta, Cayman Islands, Dhaka, London, Amsterdam and Oslo. Hepresently actsas Maritime Law Consultant to the Governments of Mauritius and Bangladesh. He is Honorary Research Fellow, Swansea University; Visiting or Adjunct Professor at University of Antwerp, Shanghai Maritime University; Jimei University;Graduate School of Human Resource Development, Chung-Ang University, Seoul;BSMR Maritime University, Dhaka and Yangon University, Myanmar. He is associated with West Bengal University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata, Gujarat National Law University, Gujarat Maritime University and Kerala Law Academy Law College in India; He spent 16 years in a seafaring career culminating as Master before entering legal studies and the legal profession.He is a member of the Canadian Maritime Law Association and the CMI Working Group on Fair Treatment of Seafarers.He is the author of Mukherjee on Maritime Legislation,lead author of Farthing on International Shipping,Fourth Edition and Lead Editor of Maritime Law in Motion among numerouspublications on virtually every aspect maritime affairs and maritime law.
