MOOT ACHIEVEMENTS


Mooting is the premier co-curricular activity in Law schools throughout the country and the world. We at NLUO, Cuttack have a very organized and systematic approach to mooting which has led to amazing results in previous years and continues till date. Teams representing the University have regularly Won or been finalists at prestigious moot court competitions across the country. Some of the noteworthy performances in the previous and current academic year are as follows:-
16th Best Finalists and Citation of Hon’ble Mention for Best Memorandum – Claimants at The 12th Willem C. Excellent performance by NLU-O contingent in the 1st NUSRL Legal Aid Fest, organized by NUSRL’s Centre for Legal Aid Program in collaboration with UNICEF.

The 5-member NLU-O contingent which participated in the 1stNUSRL Legal Aid Fest, organized by NUSRL’s Centre for Legal Aid Program in collaboration with UNICEF, performed extremely well.
The Team comprising of Anand Narayan and Mandar Bhatodkar were adjudicated as runner-up in the “Symposium of Legal Aid” wherein they presented the annual report and achievements of the Legal Aid Society of our college. The collaboration of Legal Aid Society with UNDP was lauded by the panel consisting of the Labour Commissioner and Senior Advocates of Supreme Court.
The Team comprising of Ujjawal Satsangi, Arpit Jain and Tushar Jain won the “PIL Drafting” competition, also bagging the “ Best Cause” citation in the process. The PIL was presented by Ujjawal Satsangi.
Lastly, the team comprising of Abhishek Sarkar and Anand Narayan were adjudicated as runner-up in the heavily contested “Client Counseling Competition”.
The contingent won citations in every competition that they participated in and won a combined prize money of Rs. 45,000/-.

 

OTHER COMPETITIONS

A team comprising of Pankaj Sevta and Anil Vishnoi qualified to Quarter-finals and ranked 6th in 12th National Client Consultation Competition organized by Kerala Law Academy.
A team comprising of Pankaj Sevta and Anil Vishnoi qualified to Semi-finals and were 2nd Runner up Team in Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University National Mediation Competition.
Soumitra Subinaya has been awarded scholarship by FEE and Richard Staley Foundation to attend the Foundation for Economic Education (FEE) Summer Seminars at Georgia State University, U.S.A. in 2013.
Soumitra Subinaya  is the winner of the Youth Time Expedition International Contest 2013 in the Essay Category and awarded a sponsored trip to Russia in June 2013.
Soumitra Subinaya selected with Scholarship to participate in The World Universities Debating Championship 2012 from 25th December 2012 to 4th January 2013, in Berlin, GERMANY.
Soumitra Subinaya selected with scholarship to the UNITED NATIONS Alliance of Civilizations Inter-Faith Summer School from 28th August to 2nd September, 2011 at Lisbon, PORTUGAL.
Soumitra Subinaya happens to be the first Global Winner of the UNITED NATIONS- HABITAT (UN-HABITAT) Urban Youth Assembly International Essay Competition 2010 from amongst 45 countries all over the world and awarded a net-book and will be awarded a round trip to attend an international youth event. He has been invited by UN-Habitat with all expenses paid trip offers to contribute at the UN-Habitat 22nd General Council Meeting Youth events in 2011 in Kenya and to Rio +20 UNCSD Youth events in 2012 in Brazil.
Soumitra Subinaya  attended the UNITED NATIONS-HABITAT (UN-HABITAT) 24th Governing Council Meeting in Kenya on an all expenses covered trip from 15th to 19th April as Youth Representative from India.

Soumitra Subinaya has been adjudged a Winner in Centre for Civil Society Essay Contest 2011 and provided an ALL EXPENSES PAID TRIP to attend a seminar on ‘ipolicy for young leaders” at New Delhi, India.
Soumitra Subinaya has been adjudged Winner in the 2012 U.S. Embassy All India Essay Contest and awarded an IPAD-3 and an all expenses paid trip to attend the July 4, 2012 American Independence Party in New Delhi, India. Essay published in The Span Magazine, the official magazine of the U.S. Embassy.
Soumitra Subinaya is awarded Special Prize of 25 Euros in the 2010 Concern Worldwide International Creative Writing Competition from amongst 37 countries worldwide. The article has been published by Liffey Press, Ireland.
Soumitra Subinaya is the first Indian in the World to be awarded the SECOND PRIZE in 2011 in the CONCERN WORLDWIDE International Creative Writing Competition from amongst 42 countries all over the world. The article has been published by Liffey Press, Ireland.
Soumitra Subinaya is the first Indian in the World to be awarded 3rd Prize of £200 in the John Roberts International Student Essay Competition 2010. Essay published in NATOWatch Observatory.
Soumitra Subinaya is the Youngest Paper Presenter with scholarship at the NAMCHRCD International Conference on “Cultures in Support of Humanity”, 2011, IRAN. Article published in NAMCHRCD Journal.
Soumitra Subinaya paper is selected and presented at the 2nd International NAMCHRCD Conference, 2012, IRAN.
Soumitra Subinaya was awarded 2nd prize of Rs. 2500 and trophy and certificate in CONCERN WORLDWIDE and XIMB National essay contest 2010. The essay theme was ‘Humanitarianism and Climate Change’. The winning essay has been published in Indus Valley Times newspaper.

Apurva Raj Mathur and Proteek Debnath  presented a paper titled ‘Medical Ethics- Is Law justifying Humanity’ in the 3rd International Conference on Legal Medicine, Medical Negligence and Litigation in Medical Practice was held on 3rd to 5th February, 2012 at Jaipur organized by ‘Indian Association of Medico-Legal Experts’ & ‘Anglia Ruskin University.
